Advancement Services Specialist (Onsite)

ADVANCEMENT SERVICES SPECIALIST

Location: Birmingham (Irondale), AL; not remote eligible

How You Will Impact the Big Picture:

As the Advancement Services Specialist, you will perform a variety of routine, standardized clerical or operational support duties across Mission Advancement Services. The specific duties assigned each day will vary based on the volume and workflow needs within the department.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Perform print center work: prepare and process Mission Advancement printing, including, but not limited to, acknowledgements, tax statements, welcome kits, packing slips and more.
  • Operate computer, printer, inserter, sealer, scanner and other related standard office and processing equipment; verify documents, print & mail center work for accuracy and completeness, performing research, documenting printed package counts.
  • Sort, open, review and prepare incoming mailed donor correspondence and donations for imaging or separate processing as required.
  • Scan check and other donation correspondence utilizing high-speed imaging equipment.
  • Regularly clean printing, mailing and imaging equipment and clear jams as necessary.
  • Physically sort, count and prepare spoiled postage envelopes for USPS credit.
  • Process donation using the Mavro Imaging system and the EWTN fundraising CRM.
  • Review, quality check, match, update, and import various gift batches into CRM database.
  • Update donor records with changes requested via returned mail, phone calls, emails and letters following established workflow guidelines and business rules.
  • Research donor information upon request within the CRM database.
  • Maintain confidentiality & security of donor information, EWTN fundraising performance & methods.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have Experience with databases or knowledge of database and imaging software applications.
  • You have strong data entry skills and computer software experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • You possess excellent verbal & written communication skills; exemplify well developed organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • You are adaptable, able to adjust to changing circumstances; willing to learn new technological skills.
  • You hold a High school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have prior experience working in a print shop, mailroom, or imaging center including working with printers, scanners and mail distributions systems
  • You have a minimum 1-2 years of fundraising donation processing or data entry experience and are familiar with database software such as Virtuous, Mavro, RaiseDonors and BeenVerified.
  • You are knowledgeable of postal regulations and specifications.
  • You have data hygiene/data research experience.
  • You demonstrate knowledge of the Catholic Faith and EWTN’s mission.

Associate Producer (Washington DC)

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (Pro-Life Weekly)

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Associate Producer for Pro-Life Weekly, you will work with the Pro-Life Weekly editorial team to produce content with a strict deadline for a daily newscast. This role will also collaborate with and support the production of all shows across EWTN News, as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Contribute to a lively, fast-paced newscast that includes writing news packages, voiceovers, teases, and discussion segments; assists in writing scripts for newscasts and TV news brief.
  • Pitch story and guest ideas to team; book guests and coordinate all necessary details.
  • Develop and nurture a productive network within the Pro-Life and Catholic community.
  • Work with editors to facilitate production.
  • Watch and log video and sound for various events.
  • Communicate with production crew about executing the newscast.
  • Review and pull video for stories (packages, VOs, and discussions) and monitor AP wires.
  • Visualize and order graphics.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in TV broadcast news, Newspaper, or Marketing environments.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with with demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the faith and EWTN’s mission, including how it relates to stories being covered.
  • You have excellent news judgment, attention to detail & accuracy; communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You are able to visually and creatively tell a story and engage viewers using graphics and other elements.
  • You have experience utilizing broadcast software programs (i.e., iNews, AP ENPS)
  • You possess excellent broadcast writing skills.
  • You have a collaborative nature & work successfully in a team environment, independently, and with remote teammates.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.

Booker / Planning Editor (Washington, DC)

BOOKER / PLANNING EDITOR

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Booker/Planning Editor, you will research and schedule guests for discussion segments for EWTN News Nightly and finalize all necessary details between guests and the control room. The Booker/Planning Editor will also manage the newsroom’s editorial calendar and daily agenda.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Book qualified guests, conduct preliminary interviews, and conduct technical tests.
  • Build and foster relationships with potential guests, press contacts, Congressional staff, and Catholic contacts in a professional manner.
  • Maintain and continue development of existing database of contacts.
  • Serve as host to visiting guests; greet upon arrival and escort through the News Nightly studio.
  • Manage daily agenda; communicate details to entire bureau to include a rundown of EWTN New Nightly daily activities.
  • Research potential guests and stories; pitch guest and content ideas to Executive Producer and ENN Editorial team during daily planning meetings.
  • Collaborate with team to assist in achieving relevant, compelling news content and presentation.
  • Keep track of upcoming events, hearings, press conferences, and seminars in the Washington, D.C. area that may make for compelling segments.
  • Work with Senior Producer and ENN Editorial Team to manage calendar of current story coverage and timelines.
  • Provide back-up support to Associate Producer and/or Segment Producer, as needed.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum 3 - 5 years of professional experience in a Newsroom environment.
  • You possess excellent organizational and time management skills with a meticulous level of attention to detail.
  • You exemplify exceptional interpersonal skills, to include verbal, written, and active listening skills with the ability to represent EWTN in a professional and engaging manner.
  • You have a solid understanding of the program’s focus and guests/stories that would interest our audience.
  • You have good computer skills including Microsoft products (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel) and A/P news software (ENPS preferred).  Experience with databases helpful.
  • You demonstrate good news judgment.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Faith and commitment to EWTN’s mission; strong network of contacts within the Catholic community preferred.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Theology, or related field;      combination of experience and education may be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Donor Care Specialist (temporary)

DONOR CARE SPECIALIST

Temporary (October 2023 – January 2024)

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Donor Care Specialist, you will have the opportunity to serve our benefactors by providing excellent customer service over the telephone through taking donations, answering questions, resolving issues, and taking prayer requests. Your dedicated service as the Donor Care Specialist will directly contribute to meeting our donor relations and mission advancement goals. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist callers in making credit card donations over the telephone.
  • Evaluate and resolve donor and donation issues, including but not limited to, making donations,
  • making address changes, resolving duplicate accounts, and removing donors from the mailing list.
  • Appropriately decide when to escalate complex donor matters to management for resolution.
  • Safeguard benefactor information and maintain and protect donor privacy.
  • Respectfully take prayer requests by telephone and handle appropriately.
  • Participate in ongoing formation and education around excellence in donor care and philanthropy best practices.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of two years of customer service experience.
  • You are able to work Mon – Fri, 8-hour shift five days per week from 10 am to 7 pm Central.
  • You are familiar with fundraising principles and best practices.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Faith and EWTN’s mission.
  • You possess excellent verbal communication skills including a pleasant telephone manner, good grammar, and a patient and helpful disposition.
  • You have a working knowledge of basic data entry skills and proficient computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Call center experience strongly preferred.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage multiple email lists, employing data-driven segmentation strategies to personalize the faith and giving journey.
  • Ensure optimal deliverability rates while adhering to GDPR policies and avoiding spam traps.
  • Maintain email and SMS list health and handle the technical aspects of email and text marketing.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party agencies to troubleshoot and enhance email performance.
  • Design and manage complex automated email workflows, optimizing user experiences and engagement.
  • Maintain a comprehensive email and SMS marketing calendar, providing regular reports on campaign performance and KPIs.

Under the guidance of the Executive Chef, you will create appetizing and high quality meals for Network guests and employee events. You will ensure culinary excellence, strict food safety compliance, and an exceptional guest experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • You will work closely with the Executive Chef to shop, prepare and serve top-quality meals while adhering to food safety standards.
  • You will craft guest-specific menu items, considering dietary restrictions and allergies; plan and prepare menu items with precise portioning and cooking times to produce high quality meals.
  • You will maintain kitchen equipment and ensure cleanliness of the kitchen, prep areas, dining room and storage spaces upholding sanitation standards.

  • You demonstrate ability to relate well to others with professionalism and courtesy.
  • You possess strong organizational and planning skills and are able to work independently.

As the Political Correspondent, you will be responsible for producing news articles and other reporting as assigned by editors, and for representing Catholic News Agency at various functions and events.   • Assume responsibility for the operations of the Data Center(s) - to ensure server farm, cloud platforms, backup, and storage facilities are kept up to date by best practices. This includes: operating system upgrades and patches, 3rd party software patches, SQL upgrades and patches, firmware updates, and security patches.
  • Report on network performance, connectivity issues, and hardware issues. 
  • Analyze Application connectivity and performance within the server farm and 3rd party applications. Present metrics and make recommendations to the Director of Information Services.
  • Optimize network performance through analysis, and performance tuning. Troubleshoot network problems such as utilization, throughput, and latency.

Studio Technician (Washington, DC)

STUDIO TECHNICIAN

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Studio Technician, you will be responsible for the technical setup and operation of all production functions in the studio or in the field. You will work in other production crew positions as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • You will coordinate with the Director, Audio Technician and the Studio Operations Manager on studio setup required for productions.
  • You will assist in studio set changes, wiring guests for audio, and operating lighting board.
  • You will set up on-location cameras, Skype and satellite interviews.
  • You will back up the Digital Asset Manager and assist with capturing live feeds and downloading footage for broadcasts.
  • You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to maintain and upgrade all aspects of the studio and broadcast facilities.
  • You will assist with field productions.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in TV broadcast/cable production or related field.
  • You are proficient with robotic camera systems and are experienced with professional control room equipment, (switchers, tape operation, graphics, and teleprompter software).
  • Experience or knowledge of the following are highly preferred; Avid infrastructure, technical directing, electrical engineering.
  • You possess excellent organizational & communication skills with strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • You are able to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
  • You must possess a working knowledge of the Catholic Faith and alignment with EWTN’s mission.
  • You hold an Associate’s degree in Electronics, Communications, or TV Production.

Videographer (Washington DC)

VIDEOGRAPHER

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Videographer, you will shoot general assignment, National, political and feature news in a non-linear newsroom for a designated News program. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Shoot general assignment, political and feature news stories. 
  • Professionally light reporters and guests.
  • Shoot live shots and packages for daily news and/or weekly news shows.
  • Operate streaming video equipment like LiveU.
  • Assist the Production Manager with managing the freelance photographers and the field production equipment, including company vehicles.
  • Set up and operate remote productions.
  • Assist in the control room during show production (robotics, tape operator, teleprompter, floor directing, delivering scripts).
  • Responsibly operate ENN News crew vehicles; adheres to all local traffic laws.
  • Assist reporters in the field with technical assistance. 
  • Provide flexibility as work may extend beyond broadcast completion including occasional weekends and international and domestic travel (minimal).
  • If assigned, organize field crews with reporters and call-in freelancers as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining field equipment and crew vehicles. 

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of broadcast news field experience, preferably with White House or Capitol Hill experience. 
  • You have proven photography skills in a multi-media newsroom environment and on off-site locations. 
  • You are experienced in Avid or comparable professional computer-based editing systems, and multiple tape formats. 
  • You possess strong knowledge of location lighting techniques.
  • You are tech savvy and informed about latest broadcast technology.
  • You are self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • You must be able to pass a White House background check.
  • You have good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment and/or independently as needed.
  • You have a solid understanding of EWTN’s mission and desire to work in a Catholic environment.
  • You are able to lift and carry broadcast equipment up to 50 pounds. 
  • You are able to attend events, including some domestic travel, as needed.
  • You hold a degree/certification in Photography, Broadcasting, Film/TV Production, or other relevant field and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
