Accounting Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

TITLE:                 Accounting Assistant

REPORTS TO:    Chief Financial Officer

DEPARTMENT:   Accounting

LOCATION:         Irondale, AL

FLSA STATUS:   Non-exempt 

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Accounting Assistant is the administrative assistant of the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for assisting the Accounting department with daily tasks to ensure a smooth and timely workflow, meeting deadlines as necessary.  This includes entering data and preparing reports for accurate tracking and assisting the Financial Managers and Chief Financial Officer as needed for proper follow up.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews daily cash deposit prepared by Viewer Services, and activity in the EWTN Online account.
  • Oversees the EWTN purchase card program – orders new cards, reviews against existing parameters, assist users with questions and fraud issues
  • Prepares monthly purchase card journal entry for both travel and individual purchase cards.
  • Prepares purchase orders for all companies
  • Prepares accounts receivable invoices for EWTN and prepares journal entry into the general ledger.
  • Oversees employee giving program, and interacts with Viewer Services and Mission Advancement regarding donors.
  • Prepares and updates ACH templates on Wells Fargo for EWTN ACH monthly donors
  • Assists with cash counting and bank runs.
  • Answers department phone and routes calls as appropriate.
  • Opens and distributes mail for the department.
  • Orders office supplies for department as needed.
  • Files accounts payable invoices on weekly basis
  • Other duties as assigned by the Financial Managers and/or the Chief Financial Officer. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping with 3 – 5 years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (Great Plains preferred).
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), with high proficiency in Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Good time management skills, including the ability to simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A professional demeanor with excellent customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

REPORTS TO:    Viewer Services Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Viewer Services Manager, this position responds to customer inquiries and performs a variety of duties related to Customer Service in accordance with Network policies and procedures. Develops and maintains rapport with customers (via phone, letter, or e-mail) and works to give them the best possible service in both a timely and courteous manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives, researches, and answers customer inquiries and requests (written or telephone) regarding order status, changes, adjustments, and cancellations.
  • Works with customers to offer alternatives to resolve problems.
  • Receives, researches and answers phone centers requests and inquiries.
  • Inputs credit cards and researches all declined credit card customers to verify card number, expiration date, etc.
  • Accesses computer system to retrieve customer information, status of orders, make changes on the customer’s order and input credit card and check customer names into the donor file.  Ensures that correct information is used for retrieving and inputting of data.
  • Receives and answers inquiries from other departments regarding Customer Service responsibilities.
  • Follows up on customer inquiries and research to assure satisfactory completion of order.
  • Completes entry of Internet orders on a daily basis.
  • Enters Spanish web orders manually.
  • Informs Viewer Services Manager or Director of Viewer Services of customer-identified damaged merchandise problems and coordinates all customer information (credit and customer file) to reflect this transaction.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and present solutions relating to potential customer service problem areas.
  • Identifies needs and makes recommendations regarding revisions to policy and procedure.
  • Remains current on changes in policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Prepares routine reports and assists the Assistant Buyer and Viewer Services Manager with special projects as needed.
  • Directs inquiries from customers not related to Religious Catalogue activities to the appropriate department.
  • Perform month-end procedures via Ability Commerce.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in Customer Service

Groundskeeper

JOB SUMMARY

GENERAL SUMMARY: The EWTN Groundskeeper maintains the Network grounds, maintenance of grounds equipment and appropriately utilizes Network supplies and equipment in order to minimize loss and waste.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cut lawns, trims and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and perimeter.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees, rakes bags and removes dead shrubs, fallen leaves, branches and twigs.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter.
  • Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs.
  • Repairs and conducts preventative maintenance on all ground keeping tools and equipment to ensure they are running correctly.
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance and repairs on all fleet and grounds vehicles and golf carts.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year groundskeeping experience
  • Experience in small engine maintenance/repair
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates and models EWTN’s values in interactions and behaviors, displaying the highest degree of integrity, confidentiality and instilling trust.
  • Provides policy guidance, interpretation and assistance in implementing all procedures and programs.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to determine staffing needs, review job descriptions and outline success profiles.  Interviews and screens applicants and provides guidance to managers on interviewing, selection and hiring practices.
  • Interacts with managers and employees on various employment related issues to resolve.  Coaches and guides managers on employee issues to achieve positive outcomes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to inspire confidence and trust.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The IT Support Technician II will be responsible for the set-up and maintenance of hardware and software, including the following OS platforms: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, and latest Mac OS.  Will provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the EWTN Network Environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot printers, computer hardware, mobile devices, Windows 7 & 10 OS, Office 2013/2016 and other authorized desktop applications and peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via remote access) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide direct end user assistance where required
  • Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade hardware and equipment (including but not limited to PCs, laptops, printers, scanners and cell phones) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance tasks on computers, laptops, printers, and any other authorized peripheral equipment unless prohibited by existing customer warranties
  • Responsible for monitoring, operating, managing, troubleshooting and restoring service to client personal computers (PCs) or laptops that have authorized access to the network
  • Anticipate trends by monitoring and analyzing incoming calls, problems, and support requests.
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems associated with network connectivity, and workstation hardware/software
  • Clean and repair computer hardware, such as keyboards and printers.
  • Use approved tools and methodologies to image, copy and configure systems for deployment
  • Familiarize and train end users on basic software, hardware and peripheral device operation
  • Take ownership and responsibility of queries, issues and problems (tickets) assigned
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of approved operating systems and application software used to provide a high level of support
  • Maintain and consistently demonstrate a general knowledge of company guidelines, processes, practices and procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Non-Linear Editor executes the editing of video material for a production, promotional and/or marketing piece.  This includes set up and operation of all editing equipment, video, and audio sources to provide quality broadcast programming.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with producers on a specific project.
  • Works directly with writer/producer or from scripted pre-formatted materials to perform editorial functions resulting in satisfactory project completion.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to complete editing assigned task (Record Decks, Computer Software, Audio Mixer, Routers, etc.).
  • Compile completion and file all trouble reports related to equipment and present to appropriate parties for further directions.
  • Ensures all projects completed in a timely manner, meeting all existing technical and stylistic protocols.
  • Properly labels all materials and submits to Quality Control.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards, (linear and non-linear, digital and analog) and trends related to post production field.

On-Air Graphic Designer

JOB SUMMARY

TITLE:                 On-Air Graphic Designer

REPORTS TO:    Creative Director

GENERAL SUMMARY: The On-Air Graphic Designer works with the Creative Services Director on the design of Graphic packages for production including: animated opening sequences, title designs, name keys, end bumpers, and other elements depending on needs of the project. Also design of printed materials to support production and promotions. Coordinates with the Creative Services Director, Producer, and Editor to design and oversee productions are within guidelines of project, as well as sensitive, to the mission of the Network.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Concept and design animated graphics packages for productions, promotions, or any other assigned project.  Package usually includes: opening sequence with typography design, bumps, credit bed, name bar, full screen graphics page, and bug.
  • Ability to incorporate creative elements quickly, which enhance and are sensitive to the mission of the Network.
  • Communicates concepts through storyboards for approvals before project starts.
  • Familiarity with stock footage or photography in our library and stock footage or photos for purchase to utilize in project.
  • Provide information & elements to Editor assigned to the project
  • Setup and operate live show and live-to-tape Computer Graphics for weekly live productions, series and special events.
  • Design materials for printed use on sets, collateral or Home Video designs.
  • Takes direction from Creative Director on look of design and projects, daily priorities and scheduling of projects.
  • Organizes arrangements as necessary to shoot video in collaboration with Production Coordinator & Producer.
  • Organize, archive, and maintain all files for projects. Complete paperwork to close job in a timely manner.
  • Dependability and consistency to take responsibility for all facets of a project from start to finish.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in design, digital arts or related field.
  • Proven experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects and typography design
  • Proficient with Macintosh.

REPORTS TO:    Supervising Producer

GENERAL SUMMARY: The EWTN Producer-Editor coordinates creative and logistical aspects of various types of EWTN Productions, including but not limited to: Co-Productions, Series, Specials, Live Shows, Special Events, Daily Mass, etc.  In addition, he/she will edit these productions maintaining proper artistic and technical standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with the Director of Studio Operations, Supervising Producer, Crew Chief, Scheduler and Post Production Supervisor on, crew, scheduling and post production issues.
  • Works on overall program production related activities associated with proper completion of the production or series from conception to final product.
  • Contacts talent; organizes scripts.
  • Coordinates with Set Designer on set requirements and with Creative Services Department on graphic requirements.
  • Coordinates and Schedules each day’s production(s).
  • Insures transportation and housing requirements of guests have been met.
  • Secures performance releases and copyright clearances as required by that specific production.
  • Coordinates with third parties contributing content to EWTN.
  • Maintains information files on each program and provides information to Promotions, Scheduling, Traffic, Marketing and any other Departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Studio Operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in broadcast/cable TV production/programming or a related visual arts field.
  • Demonstrated leadership.

  • High quality writing and editing skills.
  • Proficient planning skills; setting goals, organizing, analyzing & fact gathering.

Production Assistant

REPORTS TO:   Crew Chief

GENERAL SUMMARY: The EWTN Production Assistant is responsible for the technical setup and operation of all audio related production functions in the studio or in the field, including interviews, music, voice-overs, telephone interfaces, roll-ins, and any other audio effects that may be required. Works in other production crew positions as assigned, including Technical Director, Floor Director, Camera Operator, Tape Operator, Video Operator, Teleprompter Operator, Grip, lighting assistant, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with the Director, Producer and Management on audio requirements and setup required for both studio and remote productions.
  • Sets up and positions microphones for talent, music and/or ambient sound as the production requires.
  • Responsible for proper selection and operation of all audio related equipment.
  • Maintains proper source levels (microphones, clip players, decks, telephone interface, CD, etc.) and relational perspective as production requires.
  • Files equipment trouble reports as necessary.
  • Assists in setting up and taking down sets and production equipment in the studio and in the field.
  • Assists editors by organizing, capturing and ingesting media.
  • Assists producers by logging and labeling media, monitoring productions, completing necessary reports, etc.
  • Maintains network public relations with all guests and visitors in studio and on location.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Production Manager is responsible, at the direction of the Managing Editor, for maintaining and improving the overall video, graphics, and editing production quality and equipment of the EWTN News Nightly broadcast (ENN), including managing a team of 6+ videographers, editors, and freelancers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages production staff in coordination with Deputy Managing Editor to ensure the highest-level technical execution of ENN’s daily broadcast and other media.
  • Leads technical coverage and travel coordination for major domestic and international events such as political conventions and high-profile interviews.
  • Leads staff in on-air best practices to ensure high-quality editing and photography.
  • Responsible for quality control processes.
  • Manages technical staff/freelancers’ expenses, credentials and schedules.
  • Manages monthly production budget.
  • Books and coordinates all remote transmissions including satellite, fiber, Skype.
  • Liaises with EWTN News control room staff.
  • Maintains ENN technical infrastructure, equipment and remote workspaces.
  • Manages technical relationships at the Vatican bureau, White House, Capitol Hill, State Department, Pentagon, UN, and others as needed.
  • Coordinates with EWTN HQ Production, IT, Programming and Marketing.
  • Maintains ENN vehicles and parking access.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 yrs. experience in broadcast/cable news production management.
  • 7 yrs. Experience news in-house and/or field production work.
  • Current technical knowledge of field cameras and editing systems including Avid.
  • Manages complex multi-camera field shoots under tight deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work as a collaborative team.
  • Ability to travel domestically and abroad
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Catholic Faith, and how it relates to programming goals of ENN/EWTN.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Senior Producer will work with the Deputy Managing Editor (DME) to lead the newsroom in producing daily news content consistent with Catholic teaching.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides editorial direction on story selection and show content.
  • Enterprises story ideas and original content focused on stories of interest to a Catholic audience.
  • Works with reporters to develop daily news packages and coordinate editorial elements.
  • Approves show content including reporter packages.
  • Works with Rome bureau on news from the Vatican and daily packages and guests.
  • Ensures accuracy of show content and adherence to EWTN editorial guidelines.
  • Leads morning conference call.
  • Supervises guest booker, and provides guidance and approval on guests
  • Approves social media content.
  • Maintains production calendar, including planning for hold shows and special programming.
  • Schedules  newsroom staff and editors for approval by Deputy Managing Editor
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years’ experience in TV broadcast news, producing newscasts in medium or large markets.
  • Experience in field production, package production and religious programming.
  • Solid news judgement and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to visually and creatively tell a story and engage viewers using graphics and other elements.
  • Experience utilizing broadcast software programs (i.e., iNews, AP ENPS).
  • Excellent broadcast writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Collaborate easily within a team and also work well independently.

TITLE:                 Videographer

REPORTS TO:    Production Manager

DEPARTMENT:   EWTN News Nightly

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Videographer will shoot and edit general assignment, political and feature news in a non-linear newsroom for the EWTN News Nightly (ENN) program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Shoot and edit general assignment, political and feature news stories.
  • Professionally light reporters and guests.
  • Operate live shots.
  • Operate streaming video equipment like LiveU.
  • Assist the Production Manager with managing the freelance photographers and the field production equipment, including company vehicles.
  • Setup and operate remote productions.
  • Assist in the control room during show production (robotics, tape operator, teleprompter, floor directing, delivering scripts).
  • Drive ENN crew vehicles.
  • Help reporters in the field with technical assistance.
  • Work may extend beyond broadcast completion including occasional weekends and international and domestic travel.
  • When asked, organize field crews with reporters and call in freelancers as needed.
  • Help maintain field equipment and crew vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of five (7) years of broadcast news field experience.
  • Demonstrated photography and editing skills in a multi-media newsroom.
  • Experience in Avid or comparable professional computer-based editing systems, and multiple tape formats.
  • Strong knowledge of location lighting techniques.
  • Tech savvy and informed about latest broadcast technology.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record with ability to drive vehicle daily to and from sites.
  • Must be able to pass a White House background check.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment and/or independently as needed.
  • Understanding of the Catholic Faith and EWTN’s mission.
  • Ability to lift and carry broadcast equipment up to 45 pounds.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Viewer Services Representative plays an important role in delivering the message and mission of our foundress, Mother Angelica, to our EWTN Family. The Viewer Services Representative provides an attentive, caring and positive experience to our audience through phone calls, e-mail, mail, and prayer offerings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and replies to all correspondence as needed.
  • Answers audience questions via various forms of communication, including telephone, internet and written correspondence. 
  • Responds to questions relative to Friary, Marketing, Production, Programming, Radio, Theology and other areas of the Network as appropriate.
  • Takes prayer requests and handles appropriately and respectfully.
  • Accepts and keys donations from donors via various methods, including but not limited to credit card and/or ACH.
  • Performs data entry of donations and gift requests into computer.
  • Routes incoming calls as needed.
  • Provides excellent service to those contacting EWTN.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience or equivalent training and experience.
  • Practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic faith and EWTN’s mission.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Must possess strong computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Approachable, friendly and helpful demeanor that translates to a positive experience for our EWTN Family.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.

PREFFERED:
