Accountant

ACCOUNTANT

Full-time, onsite in Irondale, AL  (not remote eligible)

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of standard, technical, accounting functions including analysis, preparation, and maintenance of routine and non-routine entries to the general ledger of EWTN. The Accountant assists in the preparation of interim financial statements, undertakes special projects and/or reports as directed by management, and works closely with management in preparation of annual audits by the independent auditors.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Review source documents used for accounting, maintenance of ledgers, registers and other records of initial entry, and preparation of periodic and special financial reports, budgets, and maintains fiscal records applying professional accounting principles and methods.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily EWTN cash counts and bank deposits.
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts.
  • Prepare special account analyses and financial reports as directed by management.
  • Prepare and enter general journal entries and adjustments, with detailed backup; analyze variance reports; and assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial budgets.
  • Responsible for inter-organization transaction with related parties, including billings and reconciliation of inter-organization accounts.
  • Participate in the monthly financial closing process as directed by management.
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of all general ledger accounts.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of prior accounting experience.
  • You have strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles and practices
  • You have excellent analytical ability to process routine data rapidly, efficiently and in accordance with prescribed goals and policies
  • You enjoy working collaboratively within a team environment

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Administrative Assistant, you will support the Executive Director and the management team of the National Catholic Register. You’ll take the lead on all administrative duties including customer service, budget planning, processing vendor invoices, managing paid-time-off schedules, arranging travel, and coordinating meetings - directly impacting and improving our operational effectiveness!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide customer care through telephone, email and mail regarding subscriptions, donations, advertising, and editorial questions, including customer service and readership complaints.
  • Attend meetings as requested; take notes, transcribe, and distribute relevant materials; manage logistics for the set-up of conference calls, remote video meetings, and in-person meetings to include technology needs, travel arrangements, catering, agendas, etc.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of prior administrative experience with a demonstrated intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

ART DIRECTOR

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

You will assist the Sr. Creative Director in conceptualization of creative solutions that effectively communicate the strategic intent of each assigned product. This includes design and layout using state of the art computer hardware, software methods and procedures. These include, but are not necessarily limited to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Quark Express. Knowledge of web development trends and software essential.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Develop creative concepts and graphics of assigned projects based on agreed strategy.

  • Research availability and costs associated with utilizing images from external sources (such as stock photography, fine art, etc.) in designs and production.
  • Art Direct or photograph images to be used in designs.
  • Ensure accuracy of all material prior to actual implementation.
  • Organize office supplies, images, and files.
  • Monitor industry trends and maintains current knowledge of emerging technology in site development.
  • Archive electronic files and maintains samples of web graphics.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum 3-5 years of experience in the design field.
  • You have proven experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign in a graphics design environment.

Cash Management Specialist

CASH MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Cash Management Specialist, you’ll apply your analytical mind and accounting skills to help balance the general ledger, reconcile daily cash flow, and detect and prevent misappropriation of cash. By ensuring accuracy, you’ll be directly impacting the bottom line by maximizing financial effectiveness for the Network.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Reconcile daily cash transactions for EWTN, Religious Catalogue, News, and Publishing entities, and record revenues to Daily Cash Report, for all bank accounts. 
  • Record Credit Card and other online revenue, prepare weekly and monthly financial reports. 
  • Dive into balance and income sheets, debits/credits, and monitor and analyze all journal entries. 
  • Prepare weekly summary of available cash for internal management review.
  • Work directly with Financial Managers to resolve outstanding issues on bank reconciliation and improve accuracy. 

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have worked at least 3 years in a cash management, bookkeeping, accounting, or financial service role.
  • You have a solid understanding of working with debits/credits, balance and income sheets, and are comfortable recording cash transactions.
  • You have reconciled bank accounts before, and know your way around a general ledger. 
  • You get excited about financial reports, and have working knowledge of general ledger accounting software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar. 
  • You are organized, analytical, with attention to detail, and can maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality.

Digital Acquisition Manager (Remote)

DIGITAL ACQUISITION MANAGER

Full-time, Remote

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

You will execute acquisition campaigns across all EWTN brands via their digital channels (paid search, YouTube video, on-demand, re-targeting, SEO and ASO).   

You will be responsible for implementing the day-to-day efforts for online, non-sustainer acquisition programs to grow EWTN’s supporter file – both revenue and reach.  Growth includes acquisition, conversion, retention and reactivation. 

This role will review data, develop the digital forecast and budget, create multiple acquisition campaigns (new names and new donors); implement and report on results.  The role will focus on U.S. first and then will assist in consulting with other regions and territories (Canada, UK, Europe, US Hispanic, Columbia). 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Help define and implement a new digital acquisition and growth strategy and manage with all stakeholders
  • Responsible for developing a deep understanding of brand audiences and optimizing the acquisition channels for high growth.
  • Develop and maintain a highly metrics-driven approach to building multiple campaigns daily, testing and growing the database.
  • Lead a team of cross-departmental people to acquire new names and donors across multiple digital platforms.
  • Design, build, test and implement new digital campaigns with the team.
  • Use behavioral data to drive acquisition.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to execute Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) based treatments to existing campaigns, new campaigns and the current websites – all brands.
  • Responsible for journey management and optimization.
  • Use audience research as a lens for paid digital media campaign planning.
  • Measure all acquisition methods end to end using GA/heat maps/usability testing & session recording.
  • Work closely with the campaign and content teams to drive acquisition through social marketing channels – YouTube/Facebook and Instagram.  All other social channels will be available for marketing experimentation.
  • Seed content on content distribution networks where appropriate.
  • Manage and report on ROI for digital acquisition strategy.
  • Share and apply learnings from one brand to another.
  • Repurpose and package content based on audience segments and needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate all digital acquisition activity and make recommendations to improve activity and feed into longer-term plans.
  • Manage and secure external agencies/freelancers as well as working in house with Online Services, Creative Services and News teams.
  • Be pro-active in monitoring industry reviews and in attending fundraising and digital networking groups.
  • Undertake all activities in line with best practice standards and processes as set out by the CFRE and AFP.
  • Work collaboratively with the appropriate colleagues in the organization, such as campaigns, email marketing, paid media, content specialists, program managers, web/online, accounting and creative services.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have 10+ years’ experience in digital marketing preferably for a non-profit, with working knowledge of giving acquisition and growth.
  • You have knowledge of acquisition forecast and expenditure budgets.
  • You have a growth mindset that puts the organization’s success first.
  • You are a problem solver who is not afraid to stretch boundaries and think outside of the box to get results. 
  • You have the desire to understand people and how they engage with content.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Director of Accounting, you’ll be responsible for establishing and directing the operations of the accounting department, including implementing accounting policies and procedures, overseeing accounting operations and systems, and directing managers and staff. The Director of Accounting will work collaboratively with the CFO to create strategies and objectives to advance the internal department infrastructure and accounting initiatives, consistent with EWTN’s mission and values.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Oversee the general accounting and payroll functions, including inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management, and accurate and timely maintenance of payroll activities.
  • Establish accounting operational strategies by evaluating trends, reviewing internal financial information and controls, and providing financial analysis and recommendations for long-term department direction.
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures by establishing benchmarks and key performance indicators to measure performance.
  • Direct the daily activities of the accounting department and staff for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits.
  • Supervise the completion of not for profit Federal, State, and local tax reporting requirements as applicable for EWTN, its affiliates and subsidiaries.
  • Support organization financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations to management on short and long-term financial objectives, including annual budgets, and financial forecasts. 

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 10-12 years of prior accounting experience, with at least 5 years of supervisory responsibilities, including the ability to hire, coach, motivate and develop staff.
  • You possess a strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, accounting principles and practices.
  • You have working experience with not-for-profit-accounting, and also analyzing business performance, and developing financial plans. 
  • You have knowledge of general ledger accounting systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP. 
  • You are a practicing Catholic aligned with EWTN’s mission and values.

Director of Marketing

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Full-time, onsite in Irondale (Birmingham), AL. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Director of Marketing, you’ll establish departmental objectives and work with the Regional Marketing Managers to execute country-specific strategies to expand public awareness of EWTN’s programming and content. The Director of Marketing will lead direct consumer and event marketing campaigns and develop ongoing relationships to cultivate support from Church leaders, industry executives, key lay organizations, and volunteers to increase consumer engagement with our media apostolate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Maintain and grow the distribution of EWTN media through the ongoing development of strong relationships with affiliated and non-affiliated distributors. 
  • Manage Marketing CRM and other databases; prepare data files for database upload, analyze and ensure ongoing accuracy of database of worldwide distributors (dioceses, parishes, volunteers, etc.), and execute database extractions to generate targeted email campaigns and direct mailings as needed.
  • Develop and execute conventional and digital media advertising plans.
  • Coordinate network participation in selected domestic and international trade shows/conventions/events, including shipment of materials and exhibits. 
  • Plan large multi-departmental events, such as the EWTN Family Celebration, including venue coordination, vendor management, contract negotiations, budgeting, departmental communication, promotional plans, and timelines. 
  • Assist in the creation of annual department budget and monitor monthly financial statements for overages and prompt payment of invoices.
  • Maintain a current level of understanding of the Catholic Church and other organizations willing to assist in marketing the Network.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in corporate or consumer marketing, media management or related field.
  • You hold a working knowledge of the current media industry, traditional media and digital advertising, and experience using social media and e-marketing campaigns and analytics.   
  • You can coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, work independently, research information, meet project deadlines, analyze problems, and select proper course of action.
  • You possess strong organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional tact and courtesy.  
  • You can demonstrate strong supervisory skills and the ability to participate effectively in a team environment.
  • You are proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and have experience working with CRM or PRM database software.
  • You are able to lift, move and transport boxes up to 50 pounds.

Donor Correspondence Specialist (Remote eligible)

DONOR CORRESPONDENCE SPECIALIST

Full-time, Irondale (Birmingham), AL. Remote Eligible.  

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Donor Correspondence Specialist, you will deliver excellent donor care through email or other written correspondence by appropriately answering questions, resolving issues, updating automatic donation schedules and taking written prayer requests for our benefactors.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Monitor, sort and triage the Mission Advancement email inbox and designated Mavro Connect workflows to ensure that donor correspondence is routed and/or responded to in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure donors are aware of various donation methods to EWTN.
  • Appropriately respond to donors’ written inquiries. 
  • Evaluate and resolve donor and donation issues, including but not limited to, making donations, making address changes, identifying duplicate accounts, removing donors from mailing lists and coding deceased benefactor accounts.
  • Appropriately decide when to escalate complex donor matters to management for resolution. 
  • Participate in ongoing formation and education around excellence in donor care and philanthropy best practices.
  • Safeguard benefactor information and strictly maintains donor privacy.
  • Respectfully and appropriately, route written prayer requests.
  • Route incoming correspondence to appropriate EWTN departments as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to EWTN’s mission and the position by regular and prompt attendance.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of two years of customer service experience.
  • You are familiar with fundraising principles and best practices.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Faith and EWTN’s mission.
  • You possess excellent verbal communication skills, proper grammar, and a patient and helpful disposition.
  • You have a working knowledge of basic data entry skills and proficient computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Executive Producer (Washington DC)

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Executive Producer, you will work with the Executive Editor of EWTN News on the overall editorial vision for the daily newscast to be produced to the highest professional standards and with content consistent with Catholic teaching.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Direct the daily editorial decision-making and show production; ensure editorial content meets EWTN News standards and practices.
  • Work with the Executive Editor of News to develop long-term strategies and planning for continued growth and enrichment of the newscast.
  • Enterprise story ideas and original content focused on hard news stories of interest to a Catholic audience.
  • Supervise newsroom managers and staff; serve as mentor to develop performance and ensure the highest quality production possible.
  • Help newsroom staff to source and pitch story ideas.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have 10+ years of prior experience working in TV broadcast news, producing newscasts in medium or large markets.
  • You possess 5-7 years of prior experience in a management role, preferably in a newsroom environment.
  • You are a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, devoted to the faith, loyal to the magisterium and possessing a thorough knowledge of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and how it relates to the programming goals of EWTN News and News Nightly.
  • You have experience in field production, package production, and religious programming.
  • You have solid news judgement and demonstrated meticulous level of attention to detail.
  • You have the ability to tell a story and engage viewers using graphics and other elements visually and creatively.
  • You have experience utilizing broadcast software programs (i.e., Avid, ENPS).
  • You possess excellent broadcast writing skills.

Facilities Manager

FACILITIES MANAGER

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Manager performs and supervises tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building repair and maintenance as well as grounds. Supervises the Building and Grounds staff in day-to-day activities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Plan work activities and establishes work schedules and staffing requirements. Schedule and assign the work of maintenance and grounds.
  • Coordinate the flow of work or services within department and resolve inter-departmental operating problems.
  • Work with all departments to ensure maintenance of facility projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Schedule annual maintenance for, Building and Grounds and oversee the completion of duties.
  • Enforce safety standards and checks as necessary, ensuring building and grounds staff are in compliance with all safety standards and codes.
  • Secure sub-contractors as needed and assist in overseeing completion of projects.
  • Track and implement maintenance on fleet vehicles and EWTN equipment.
  • Coordinate with grounds on daily activities and projects as necessary.
  • Review and monitor department expenses and ensures others follow guidelines.
  • Required to be “on call” 24-7 for critical and/or emergency repairs situations.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in commercial or industrial maintenance is required, two (2) years of which should be in maintenance supervision.  Experience that shows a successful progression in responsibilities and demonstrated leadership skills may be substituted for the maintenance supervisory experience.
  • You are able to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Life Safety Codes, Preventive Maintenance Procedures, Purchasing Procedures, and Maintenance Management of all major building systems, construction and coordination. You are able to effectively manage staff and multiple projects.
  • You have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • You possess good interpersonal, organizational and communications skills.
  • You are able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • You hold an approved accredited post-secondary vocational or technical school two (2) year degree in Plumbing, Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, or Building maintenance.  A Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is preferred or the equivalent training and experience.
  • You have certification in plumbing, HVAC or electrical, i.e. Master Card in Plumbing or Electrical, HVAC State Contractor License, NICET Certification, etc.

The Graphic Designer will design and develop complex graphics and collateral materials for print communications, electronic media, and presentations. This includes design and layout using state of the art computer hardware, software methods and procedures. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Design and produce graphic materials for print media, electronic communications and web related projects.

  • You have a minimum 3-5 years of experience in design, digital arts or related field.
  • You are knowledgeable in web development software and trends.
  • You are skilled and proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign in a graphics design environment.
  • You will be required to work under moderate supervision and have moderate latitude for using personal initiative and independent judgment.
  • You have an understanding of design restraints.
  • You have strong knowledge of web graphic optimization techniques helpful.

  • Draft and customize correspondence, proposals, and other written materials to identify prospects and donors, which includes the ability to run detailed gift illustrations using Crescendo’s gift illustration software.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise for planned gift solicitations, including: charitable gift annuities, real property and other non-cash assets, charitable remainder trusts, donor advised funds, beneficiary designations, bequests, life insurance policies, endowments, and retained life estates.
  • Provide tax and estate planning information necessary to secure or promote planned/deferred gifts.
  • Prepare and review documents for planned/deferred gift opportunities for prospective donors.
  • Continue professional development by attending seminars and conferences, as well as keeping abreast of current tax laws as they pertain to charitable giving and administration of programs.
  • Seek the opinions of Mission Advancement Team, tax, legal and other advisors of EWTN on complex matters, when appropriate. 
  • Maintain a strong professional networking relationship with peer representatives and the EWTN staff.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of EWTN priorities.
  • Represent EWTN at functions, events and meetings as required.

  • You have a minimum of 7 years professional fundraising experience or related work experience at a non-profit organization with extensive experience in planned giving programs.
  • You have a proven track record of success in achieving goals and fundraising metrics.
  • You are experienced in developing a strategic plan for soliciting and securing gifts from private sources or the equivalent in customer/client relationships.
  • You have a demonstrated knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and techniques.
  • You have existing knowledge of and are well networked within Catholic donor community.

Mission Advancement Officer (Midwest Region - remote)

As the Mission Advancement Officer you’ll be responsible for working with the Vice President of Mission Advancement to solicit donations to support EWTN’s mission and cultivate relationships with EWTN community of donors in the Midwestern United States. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Cultivate & solicit assigned major gift prospects; ensure that donors receive proper acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship.
  • Identify & research high net worth individuals in the region and work to cultivate their support of the Network
  • Maintain awareness of the critical needs of the Network and communicate these needs to donors, soliciting gifts for these needs as appropriate
  • Maintain awareness of the impact of the Network and communicate this impact to donor as a means of cultivating affinity with the work of the Network
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of donor conversations, visits and research.
  • Work with selected staff, Board, and Volunteers to ensure coordinated and effective solicitation of EWTN’s major gift prospects; prepare written donor proposals for major gift solicitations; maintain correspondence with donors and appropriate financial personnel.
  • Serve as development liaison to volunteers.
  • Travel nationally as necessary; prepare call reports in a timely manner.
  • Attend management committee meetings and prospect review meetings; provide communication updates to departmental management.

  • You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Development or related work experience at a non-profit organization.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Sr. Network & Systems Administrator, you'll take the lead in maintaining the operation, integrity, and security of EWTN’s Data Center, including the Server Farm, Storage Facilities, and Cloud Platform. Your watchful dedication will directly protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential, and by maintaining the highest quality network for EWTN. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assume responsibility for the operations of the Data Center(s) - to ensure server farm, cloud platforms, backup, and storage facilities are kept up to date by best practices. This includes: operating system upgrades and patches, 3rd party software patches, SQL upgrades and patches, firmware updates, and security patches.
  • Report on network performance, connectivity issues, and hardware issues. 
  • Analyze Application connectivity and performance within the server farm and 3rd party applications. Present metrics and make recommendations to the Director of Information Services.
  • Optimize network performance through analysis, and performance tuning. Troubleshoot network problems such as utilization, throughput, and latency. 
  • Maintain a secured network by following established IS Policies and Procedures and alert the Director of any violations (includes confidential information only known to the IS Administrative staff).
  • Maintain the Microsoft Exchange Cloud Environment along with the Archival Storage Facility.
  • Work closely and mentor the Jr. Network Administrator on day-to-day operations and notifications of upgrades to the Support Center.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or an Associates’ degree with 5 years’ Network and Systems Administrator experience in an enterprise Data center environment.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with Server hardware and software installation and maintenance within an enterprise environment (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies).
  • You also have 3 years’ experience with Exchange Online, Azure, and Office 365 platforms within an enterprise environment.
  • You would describe yourself has having expert knowledge of maintaining an Enterprise storage platform, and of server hardware/software configurations and industry best practices for security and PCI.
  • You would classify yourself has having strong experience with Tape Libraries environments utilizing Backup software such as Symantec, and of having up-to-date knowledge of Industry Best Practices.

  • Supports daily fulfillment operations by making boxes, restocking, repackaging, and labeling product as requested.

  • Participates in cycle counting and annual physical inventory counts.

REPORTS TO:    Studio Operations Manager

DEPARTMENT:  News Production

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Video Editor is responsible for the editing and assembling of recorded raw material into a suitable, finished product ready for broadcasting. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, voiceovers, graphics and special effects. In addition, the Video Editor will be responsible for exporting and uploading show segments and materials online for social media and other platforms.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edits video packages and show elements using Avid Media Composer in coordination with the other members of the editing team and show producers.
  • Operates computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects.
  • Assign daily video editor duties and assignments for videographers/reporters
  • Ensures all projects are completed in a timely manner, adhering to all existing technical and stylistic protocols.
  • Improves video and sound quality using various video software.
