To the Personnel of the Security Corps (8 November 1982)

Author: Pope John Paul II

On Monday, 8 November 1982, in Madrid, the Holy Father commended the personnel of the Security Corps for their “exemplary competence and a profound spirit of devotion to the Pope.”

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am happy to be able to receive you this evening, even if briefly, to greet you in a more personal way.

I want to express to you my profound appreciation and thanks for all the vigils and sacrifices you faced during my journey with exemplary competence and a profound spirit of devotion to the Pope. Heartfelt thanks to you, to all your companions belonging to the various security and to those who, perhaps in hiding, have lent their effective collaboration in many cities and places in Spain!

I commend to God your intentions, those of your wives, children and families.

God bless you and help you always. I also bless you, together with your families. In this greeting, thanks and blessing I also include all the protocol staff and their families, and all those who collaborated in the preparation and realization of this trip to Spain.

May God reward you!
