To the Journalists on the Trip to Spain (3 November 1982)

Author: Pope John Paul II

On Wednesday, 3 November 1982, the Holy Father addressed the journalists accompanying him on his trip to Spain, thanking them for their service.

Dear journalists.

I am happy to be able to address these words, together with my cordial greetings, to you journalists who cover information on my trip to Spain.

Although I have already had another meeting with media workers, I was happy to agree to be with you briefly in this meeting.

I have already met with some of you on other occasions, during plane travel or on previous visits to different countries. Therefore our greeting is that of old acquaintances.

I would like to express to you all my respect for your important and delicate mission, which requires so much responsibility and respect for the truth, out of respect for your professional ethics and your readers.

Thank you for your service and please: don't get too tired these days. Goodbye, and may God bless you, your work and your families.
