Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV was born Robert Francis Prevost on 14 September 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Elected on the 8th of May 2025 on the fourth ballot, he succeeded Pope Francis as the 267th Successor of St. Peter as Bishop of Rome and Supreme Pontiff. The first American elected Pope, and the second consecutive from the Western Hemisphere – Pope Francis was Argentinian, Pope Leo was already resident in Rome as the Cardinal Prefect of the Dicastery of Bishops when he was elected. A member of the Augustinian Order, he had previously been the Bishop of Chiclayo, Peru.
