Vassula Ryden is a Greek Orthodox lay woman who promotes the re-union of the Orthodox Churches with Rome. She has published a number of alleged revelations regarding "True Life in God" and promotes an ecumenical prayer movement. In an official Notification published in 1995, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith raised certain doctrinal and disciplinary issues with respect to Mrs. Ryden, her writings and activities.
In 1996 it reinforced its decision, and in 2004 the CDF noted to several bishops conferences the useful clarifications made by Mrs Ryden regarding her writings. This was repeated in 2007 by a letter to other bishops conferences where she was active with an affirmation of the normative character of previous dogmatic decisions and a statement that it is inappropriate for Catholics to take part in her activities.
