VII INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FORUM FINISHES TODAY IN ROME
Rome, 15 (NE) Today finishes the VII International Youth Forum held in the Eternal City. 300 young
people from 128 countries have participated in the event, organized by the Pontifical Council for the
Laity. It had as motto: “I say it to everyone: Let us set out in the footsteps of Christ!”
As fruit of the forum, the participants wrote a final message that will be read to Pope John Paul II and
the participants of the World Youth Day on August 19. At the opening ceremony last Saturday 12, the
Forum participants received the cross of the World Youth Encounters, from 250 young people that
brought them in pilgrimage from Mantua, through 4 Italian regions.
That same day, after receiving the symbolic cross, Cardinal James Francis Stafford, President of the
Pontifical Council for the Laity, expressed during his intervention that the Forum would be an excellent
occasion of renewal for the youth’s Christian life and an important moment to create ties of friendship
among the participants.
