EWTN
Honors Padre Pio
Padre Pio, a stigmatist with the gift of “reading
hearts” in the confessional, is (with Mother Teresa)
probably one of the most popular saints of our times. In
honor of the 41st anniversary of his death on Sept. 23,
1968, EWTN will showcase his life and ministry with dozens
of programs.
You and your family won’t want to miss “Night of the
Prophet” at 8 p.m. ET, Saturday, Sept. 26. This
is part of our new Saturday night series, which we call “EWTN
Cinema.” This week’s feature film is about a reporter
who traveled to San Giovani Rotondo to interview people who
were close to the saint.
Other “don’t miss” programs include:
• Padre Pio, the Priest Who Bore the Wounds of Christ,
a series with Fr. Andrew Apostoli. Each episode features a
major event from the saint’s life or covers one of his gifts
or miracles. (Airs 6 a.m. ET from Saturday, Sept. 19
through Tuesday, Sept. 29.)

understanding the history and truth of the Faith, Doug says that
this is a perfect overview of religion’s impact upon the shapers of
Western civilization. Dr. Royal, who is also dean of Catholic
Distance University’s graduate school, has also authored works
