Father says he began feeling called to the priesthood in 7th/8th grade. He says an important part of his calling was being able to serve Mass, especially funeral Masses. There, he says, he encountered Jesus in a much deeper way and saw how the priest was able to help grieving families give their loved ones to God. Those funerals revealed the foundations of our faith, that God truly died for us so we could be with Him in heaven, and made them real. As a seminarian he spent time at St. Paul's in Owosso, MI and St. Anthony's Parish in Hillsdale, MI. As a transitional Deacon he was assigned to St. Mary's in Williamston, MI. Currently he is Parochial Vicar at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, MI. Fr. Gary first felt called to be a priest at a young age and entered seminary after high school. He attended St. John Vianney Seminary, located on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, where he received a BA in Philosophy and Catholic Studies. Father attended Major Seminary at Sacred Heart in Detroit , where he completed a Masters in Divinity. He was ordained a priest on June 14th, 2014 for the Diocese of Lansing, alongside his twin brother, Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht. Fr. Gary is serving as Parochial Vicar at the Parish of the Holy Family in Grand Blanc, MI. He says, 'I am blessed and privileged to serve Christ and the Church as a priest!'
