ARSONISTS BURN TANZANIAN CHURCH

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (CWNews.com) - Arsonists in a majority Muslim region of Tanzania attacked and burned a Catholic church on Holy Saturday, according to the bishop of Zanzibar.

Bishop Amros Nkenda said the fire burned both the church and several other church properties, although no one was injured. He added that arsonists had tried to burn down the same church last year. Three years, arsonists torched another church nearby with a gasoline bomb.

While non one has been arrested so far, police said they are investigating leads. Attacks on Christians' property have escalated since 1995, with Muslim extremists trying to drive Christians out.
