EWTN Catholic Q&A
Wedding ring
Question from Joe on 04-16-2013:

Is it acceptable to sell one's wedding ring when it can no longer be worn due to swollen fingers?

Answer by Catholic Answers on 04-16-2013:

Joe--

Sure. But a ring that cannot be worn but also has tremendous sentimental value might also be set aside for those who would value it as a memento, such as children or grandchildren. And, if the person who owns the ring is still married, it should go without saying that the spouse might object to the selling of a wedding ring, whether or not it can still be worn. If he or she does object, that objection should be respected.
