EWTN Catholic Q&A
Life and lifetime
Question from Martin on 04-02-2013:

Dear Judie (&/or Fr.John Echert):

In the last 5 verses of Genesis, it seems at first that we're being told the same thing twice (i.e. that Joseph died at 110).

However, first it says "Joseph...lived 110 years" but then it says "Joseph died at the age of 110".

I believe the author addresses life and then lifetime, with the difference being the length of a pregnancy.

Would you agree or what do you think? Thanks.

Dear Martin

I had not thought about this before but it sure makes sense.
