EWTN Catholic Q&A
in His time
Question from wondering on 02-19-2013:

God calls us in His time. Does that mean that even if we avoided some disaster, God would take us anyway at that time, just in a different way? For example, when we say if only that person didn't do this or that they would still be alive, would God have taken them at that time anyway just in a different way?

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 04-08-2013:

Dear Wondering,

I suppose the best answer if that when your time is up, your time is up. It is good to keep in mind that God loves us more than any creature ever will. He acts for the sake of our good and the good of those around us. His providence is most mysterious. He is not waiting for us to make one slip or several slips into serious sin and then plunge us into hell. Added to his justice is his infinite mercy.

Dr. Geraghty
