| Receiving Communion under both species Question from Lucille on 02-03-2013: |
Why is Communion sometimes distributed under both species, since each species contains both the body and blood of Christ? |

Lucille-- Receiving under both species is a fuller sign of the sacrament. Even so, the only person who must receive Communion by both species is the celebrating priest. For everyone else, to do so is optional because a full Communion is made under one species alone. Michelle Arnold www.ewtn.com |
