| Inspired Question from Maryanne on 12-29-2012: |
How do we know that the Bible is the inspired word of God? |
| Answer by Fr. John Echert on 01-15-2013: |
Both Sacred Scripture and the Church teach that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. As we read in the Second Epistle to Timothy: All Scripture is [a]inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for [b]training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. We cannot prove that the Bible is inspired from a purely human perspective but we have the certitude of Faith. And if we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He established a Church and promised to guide and protect it, then we accept the divine inspiration of Sacred Scripture.
