EWTN Catholic Q&A
Becoming Catholic
Question from Paul on 11-14-2012:

I tried to enter the Catholic Church when my daughter received conformation. But it seems you make it very diffucult for people with previous marriages in their backgrounds. Do you think Jesus would turn down someone coming to the Church?

Answer by Catholic Answers on 11-16-2012:

Paul--

I do not know why your request to become Catholic evidently either was denied or perhaps deferred, so I cannot comment on that. I can only say that the Church considers marriage to be sacred and so did Jesus (e.g., Mark 10:11). The door to the Church is always open to all, no matter their background, but that does not mean that they will not be expected to exert effort to enter that door.
