EWTN Catholic Q&A
escoplian priest.
Question from anonymous on 07-20-2012:

Our catholic priest can't be married. Then why did oue Pope Benedict XVl, dose accept to have Escopilianas priest to be ordained in the catholic church. This just happen in FT.WORTH, TEXAS. Can you explain it so I can understand this. Do they do everything in the mass as our priestdo.

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 09-08-2012:

Dear Anon,

While it is the common practice in the Catholic Church that priests not marry, the Pope can make exceptions when he deems them proper. He is doing this in the case of some Episcopal priests who have converted to Catholicism.
