| Cash gift Question from Anonymous on 12-06-2011: |
Is it ok to send a cash gift to a Tribunal or individual priest AFTER the annulment process is completed? |
| Answer by Fr. Jay Toborowsky on 12-19-2011: |
Tribunals have fees that accompany the processing of petitions, these "court fees" help pay
the salaries of Tribunal staff and the maintenance of the office. To send a cash gift to the
Tribunal is not normally done, though I suppose if you choose to do so it after the case is
completely finished (to avoid the perception that it is meant to sway the decision of the
judges). In the same way, if a Priest has been helpful in working with you in getting through
the Tribunal process, you may give him a gift, though he is certainly not expecting any kind
of payment. www.ewtn.com |
