Condoms in Africa
Question from Mayte on 2/26/2014:

Hello, I hope you can help me, please! I am in the pro-life ministry in my parish, I try to read and learn as much as possible. But a BIG controversy has happened. In another ministry it was told that it is OK by the Catholic Church the use of condoms when preventing HIV in African countries. Please see the above: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11804398

Answer by Judie Brown on 2/26/2014:

Dear Mayte

You have been misinformed.

Here is the Vatican information on the subject: http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/analysis-what-the-pope-really-said-about- condoms/

Further, it should be noted that Pope Francis has not in any way altered the words of Pope Benedict on the subject of condoms and AIDS in Africa.
