churches responsibility to widows
Question from Sherry Neilson on 1/9/2014:

Who is a widow in eyes of the church related to age or status or income. Since GOd said for Church to care for the widows, should she then be required to give offerings/tithe. I turned 60 and have a full time job as a nurse for adequate income now but not enough to place towards large retirement. What is required for me to have help from the CHurch now or future. THank you for your insights.

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 1/21/2014:

Dear Sherry,

I suppose you would start with your parish. Once you get into that situation, you will meet people that you can help and people who can help you.

Dr. Geraghty
