Why Is There Even An Abortion Debate In This Country?
Question from Anon on 10/15/2013:

Judie, pro-abortion supporters argue their side largely based on the viewpoint that a fetus is not a human being. Okay, so even if a person is of that opinion, isn't the prospect alone - that by aborting the fetus you are taking away a potential life - enough to deter that person from supporting abortion? The fetus is on the sure path to becoming a fully developed baby and being born into the world, and most likely would be born if it were not for the choice of the mother (or whoever pressures the mother) to get an abortion and cut the baby off in the midst of his or her path to having life. So really, the scientific debate of whether the fetus is a human being is completely irrelevant because in either case (I personally believe that life is sacred from conception to natural death) the person who decides to have the abortion is directly responsible for that life, or at the least the potential of that life, no longer existing. That is just as bad as taking the life of a human being standing in front of you. And anyone advocating for abortion also holds responsibility for the loss of life. Do you think that many abortion supporters know this deep down but try to bury their feelings of guilt? Or are the consciences of many Americans so dead at this point that they feel no remorse? I just don't see how anyone could support taking away even the POTENTIAL of a human life.

Answer by Judie Brown on 10/19/2013:

Well, as we know the preborn child is, from creation, a human being with potential, not a potential human being.

Those who argue otherwise lack common sense.

Thanks for your analysis.
