Is it a Mortal Sin for Catholics to not attend Sunday Mass or Holy Days of Obligation ?
Question from Carol Messer on 1/7/2013:

Is it a Mortal Sin for Catholics to not attend Sunday Mass or Holy Days of Obligation if able to physically do so?

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 2/17/2013:

Dear Carol,

To neglect going to mass is a serious sin. The Catechism of the Catholic Church quotes Christ, who say: Truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." John 6,53.
