First born son
Question from Uschilawson on 1/3/2013:

I am not yet Catholic however am trying to understand The ever Virgin Mary. I understand about on the cross Jesus tells John take care of my mother, that this shows that this shows there are no other brothers. However at Christmas Mass it struck me when the scripture said "and she gave birth to her fist born son" . Now all of a sudden I have doubt/question again? Please help with this. Thank you Uschilawson

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 1/15/2013:

First Born Son was said of every first born male, regardless of whether there were any subsequent children born. For the first born son had special blessing and inheritance rights. So please do not let this dissuade you from your faith journey into the true Church.

God bless!

Father Echert
