What is meant by a wife obeying her husband?

The wife is not a child. She is a partner with her husband. Now any community, particularly a family, needs a head. In a Christian marriage just as Christ is the Head of the Church, so the husband the head of the family. But just as Christ gives his life for the sake of the Church, so the husband gives his life for the sake of his wife. He leads in self sacrifice. He serves. He is not an egotist, a general, a boss, or a dictator. He does his job to support the family and protect it. The wife completes this role with her own gifts, which are usually of the heart. Sometimes with the best of good will there is a difference about what the family as a group will do. It is up to the husband to make the decision. But he will be wise to take into consideration the views of his wife, his better half, as they say. All of this is easier said than done. It requires prayer to do it right.
