From the National Catholic Reporter:

"Even though a candidate may be unwilling to push for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion, Bretzke said, she or he may support policies that would reduce the number of abortions "in the composite."

I understand the number of abortions decreased under Pres. Clinton but increased under Pres. Bush.

So shouldn't Catholics consider voting for what a candidate can be expected to do rather than merely saying that he is pro-life?

There is nobody with a crystal ball who can estimate what an elected official will do after he is elected.

Finally, George, abortion is an act of murder, not a political issue. Until America sees it for what it is, statistics will continue to be skewed and politicians will continue to deceive.
