Infants dying in Original Sin.
Question from Dan on 10/1/2012:

Mrs Brown,

Thank you for all the good work you do to end the practice of infant murder.

Mrs Brown, recently you had a question posed as to whether or not unbaptised infants go to Hell upon death.

Another poster claimed that all infants go straight to heaven upon death since they are completely innocent.

This is not what the Church teaches.

All men are concieved and born with the sin of Adam on their soul.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

"402 All men are implicated in Adam's sin, as St. Paul affirms: "By one man's disobedience many (that is, all men) were made sinners": "sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all men sinned."289 The Apostle contrasts the universality of sin and death with the universality of salvation in Christ. "Then as one man's trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man's act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men."290"

All men need baptism to be saved. The Church has always and everywhere taught that truth as an irreversible [for man] dogma.

What the theological commision is saying is that there is a hope that God, who is not bound by even His own rules for man, can baptise these children and thereby save them. This is only a hope, granted one I deeply hope for, not a doctrine or infallible teaching of Holy Mother the Church. Thank you and God bless.

Agreed and I think the Vatican document is very clear on the fact that we can HOPE in Christ and rely on His justice and mercy.

As fallible human beings, we have no better Father in whom to place our trust.
