Ballot Question
Question from Laurel Roy on 9/22/2012:

You obviously know about the assisted suicide question on Massachusetts ballot.

Another ballot question addresses the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes. I would like to know church's official opinion as well as your own. We have had this question many times in the past-always defeated.

Answer by Judie Brown on 9/28/2012:

Dear Laurel

The Church is opposed to the act of euthanasia which is exactly what assisted suicide is ... man taking over for God.

Medical marijuana is is still drug use, and as you know, drugs lower the level of a persons aptitudes. However I have seen no official teaching on this point. Personally I would oppose it.
