I've been reading some of the posted questions relating to NFP on this site and I just don't understand it. The church doesn't allow anyother form of spacing children but the end result is the same... we are telling God "no" to his will in our lives. Doesn't he know better than us. And NFP doesn't allow the couple to be truely free and offer eachother in a non selfish way. It's always calculated. I also read someone answer a question quoting Humane Vite and The Cat. of the church. And he said it can be used if it's not for selfish reasons, isn't finances a selfish reason not to have a child? My son was concieved during our worse financial time and he tells us all the time of his desire to be a priest and his love for God. From what I'm reading it seems like this method which maybe was intended to be used for serious reasons is being used as a way to satify the world. I am a mother of five and expecting our sixth child and only because my husband and I returned to the church and are open to God's will (whatever it maybe and in all areas) are we together today. Our relationship suffered when we were calculating our intimicy. Because we are happy and putting God first, our children are happy. And we are not divorced today. Why doesn't anyone defend being open to life? What are we afraid of? Isn't His plan the best plan? |

Dear Anonymous Natural Family PLanning does not say NO to God, it says "We have a special situation
right now and would prefer not to conceive a child, Lord. But if you will us to
become pregnant at this time, we will welcome your gift of a child with all the love
we can give." As far as finances are concerned, I would suggest to you that this is not a good
reason to avoid bearing children. Couples with this argument are usually people who
could afford more children if they were not buying other things that are nice but not
necessary. Judie Brown |
