Question from Anonymous on 3/16/2012:

Dear Judie, A doctor told a young women it is ok to play softball in the early stages of her pregnancy. I disagree. I believe that there is too much risk of getting hit with the ball, too much jouncing from running and a risk of falling that could cause a miscarriage even in the first trimester. What do you think?

Answer by Judie Brown on 3/16/2012:

Dear Anonymous

While I would be concerned myself if I were a softball player and then discovered I was also an expectant Mom, that does not mean I would change my entire life though in my case I would have quit playing the game. having said that I am not so sure there is a right or wrong decision in this as some young women are so fit, like my niece who runs five miles a day, that the continuation of exercise in moderation is good for the mother and her baby.
