Anne The Lay Apostle
Question from Melissa on 2/12/2009:

My parish recently announced that someone named "Anne the lay apostle" is coming to speak at our church. They say she receives messages from Jesus and Mary, but that she is in hiding to protect herself. Her messages seem to suggest that Jesus needs our help before he can do certain things, which I think seems totally false. What is the Church's position on this? The whole thing seems fishy to me. Please advise!

Many thanks, Melissa

Answer by Fr. Jay Toborowsky on 2/13/2009:

It sounds fishy to me, too. I have reservations about anyone who works "undercover" in the United States (compared to places in the world where the Catholic Church is persecuted).
