Stealing, or...?
Question from Will on 9/28/2003:

A lot of questions have been raised recently over the burning of music, downloading of movies, etc.

My question is, is it stealing (a sin) to download and play a videogame that is no longer made?

To be precise, the game(s) are the first few Final Fantasy-s.(There have been about 11 games in the series thus far). They were made quite some time ago (10 years?), and are no longer produced for the original system.

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 10/22/2003:

Dear Will,

If those games are not being sold any longer, I would not think it wrong for one to download them. I do not know, however, what the law says about this. That would be a question for a lawyer.

Dr. Geraghty
