Alzheimer's Association
Question from Christopher L. on 9/23/2001:

Have you ever heard of the "Alzheimer's Assocociation"? If so, do they support the live embryonic stem cell research? The pastor of our diocesan cathedral is planning on participating in a 'walkathon' (Memory Walk) to help raise money for this organization to find a cure for Alzheimer's Disease. Very curious.

Answer by Judie Brown on 9/25/2001:

Dear Christopher

The official position of the Alzheimer's Association:

"In keeping with its mission to eliminate Alzheimer's disease, the Alzheimer's Association opposes any ban on federal funding for human stem cell research, provided that appropriate ethical and oversight guidelines are in place."

QUOTING: "Association Adopts Position on Stem Cell Research," Advances, 19:3:4

Clearly they are in favor of destroying embryonic human beings.
