The Kingdom of God
Question from Karen on 10/18/2012:

When did the Kingdom of God begin and what is it?

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 10/30/2012:

The Kingdom of God can be described as embracing three aspects:

Heaven itself, which surrounds God and includes the very presence of God. At some point long ago, God brought the good angels into Heaven and since the Resurrection, souls of saints from the Old Testament and New Testament period have been added as well. From among men, only the Blessed Mother is both body and soul in the Kingdom now

Purgatory, which comprises the souls of those judged to Heaven but not yet purified or with an attachment to sin. Purgatory will cease to exist at the end of time

Kingdom of God on Earth, which is the Church and all the saints (Christians in a state of sanctifying grace)

The expression Kingdom of God can also be titled The Church

Thanks, Karen

Father Echert
