Cooperating with evil at workplace?
Question from Mary Wright on 10/21/2009:

Hello. I'm a social case manager. Recently I've been told that I will be working with parenting teens helping them with many of their social problems (education, finances, parenting skills) but one of my main focuses will be on preventing a future pregnancy. I will be required to ask questions regarding their sex life and what sort of contraception they are using and assist them in this regard by referrals. I don't think abortion will have to be discussed. I feel uncomfortable about this. I may be able to skirt the issue somewhat since no one sees my interview with the teen. But am I cooperating with evil in this regard? Thanks. Mary

Answer by Judie Brown on 10/24/2009:

Dear Mary

If you are discussing sexual relations with a teenager and talking about the use of contraception with her in a "neutral manner," then you are either suggesting or inferring that for a single person to use the pill or some other form of contraceptive is legitimate, and you know this is not so. Sex outside of marriage is a sin.

Further since the birth control pill can abort children, you will be discussing abortion. My guess is you will not be able to remain in your position without comrpomising the Church's teaching.
