Dear Judie, Thank you for everything that you do for the pro-life movement. You
are a great inspiration to me and many of my friends. I just entered college this year (a public university) and many of the
students are extremely pro-abortion. What do you think is the best
way to show them the truth? I have discovered that the support of
abortion seems to spring up from a twisted morality--the people who
support it somehow think that they are doing the just thing! Is there any advice you can give? Should I just try to lead by example
and pray for the conversion of their hearts and minds to the pro-life
cause? It seems like there has to be something I can do. Thank you so much,
Patrick |

Dear Patrick When we engage those who believe that approving abortion is a good thing or an acceptable practice, there are two things we have to keep in mind. The first of these is that we may be speaking to someone whose internal moral compass has been switched off and whose conscience is therefore numbed to what is evil versus what is good. If we can keep that in mind, we can provide a few challenges to this person who is still, even though warped in their thinking, intelligent and capable of examining facts. Focus on the humanity of the child with some simple examples such as whether or not an expectant mother is with child or carrying a problem. If you are a human being whose life began at its beginning, how would have felt had your mother aborted you? Obviously you would feel nothing, but wouldn't she have been aborting a human being? And if you were not you at your beginning, who were you? This may all sound over simplified but what we are literally doing is inviting the person who condones abortion to use a little common sense. There are more ideas along these lines, so if you have a moment and can give me some examples of the rhetoric, I can perhaps help you further. By the way, Patrick, thank you for the kinds words. Praise God for His gifts. Judie Brown |
