Couple Questions on Two Recent Posts
Question from Jim on 9/16/2009:

In a recent post a gentleman asked about witnesses for an annulment. My question is, since his wife's first marriage was a civil one why would an annulment even be needed since civil weddings are not sacramental?

Answer by Robert J. Flummerfelt, J.C.L. on 9/18/2009:

Hi Jim,

Two validly baptized non-Catholic Protestants who marry, even in a civil ceremony, enter a valid, sacramental marriage to each other so long as this is the first marriage for each. So, please know that.

Blessings, Bob
