Death and rising of Jesus
Question from Maria Grima on 5/9/2009:

When Jesus died on the cross and he rised the third day from death, during these days where has he been, already with his father?, or with people who died before him? i have never heard something about this and if there is something written in the bible about it i would like to know, thanks Maria

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 5/18/2009:

It is true to say that the Second Person of the Holy Trinity always exists with the Holy Trinity--it would be impossible for God to cease to be united as a trinity of three divine Persons. But we do say that for the three days of His death, the soul of Jesus, which was seperated from his humanity during that period, was among the dead, especially among the souls of the righteous who were awaiting the Gates of Heaven to be openned.

Thanks, Maria

Father Echert
