Hail Holy Queen
Question from sb on 5/7/2009:

While praying the Hail Holy Queen, is it acceptable to say: show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, instead of show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb?

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 5/7/2009:

When it comes to prayers that have a long standing form, including in the vernacular, whenever recited in public they absolutely should be done in the traditonal manner, for the sake of uniformity, and I also suggest following this policy in private, lest this change be introduced into public recitation. Personally, I love the older forms of English, including the word "unto" Such words, which NEVER appear in secular sentences, remind us that we are in sacred speech.

God bless,

Father Echert
