Last Supper
Question from christopher on 5/6/2009:

At the Last Supper, did Jesus feed the Apostles by placing the unleavened bread in their mouths? Wasn't this a Jewish custom that the host would feed his guests in this manner? Is there any scriptural basis found in the Bible to support this? Also, is this the reason why Communion on the tongue came to be?

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 5/7/2009:

We do not know for certain but as I recall, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich states that this was the case. I am a BIG fan of hers...

Thanks, Christopher
