Re:Chaplain
Question from BB on 7/5/2012:

Dear Fr. Echert:

As one of the nearly 6 billion people on the planet who is not Catholic, I must express my gratitude to you for so graciously condescending to tolerate me and my errors as a Buddhist. Undoubtedly, if you evangelize, you attract many converts to the one and only true church.

It is indeed fortunate for us that we non-Catholics are tolerated, now. For in centuries past the one true church and its followers did not tolerate, but persecuted, enslaved, imprisoned, tortured, and murdered, some to near extermination, and confiscated the property of those who did not submit to its domination. Not rhetoric or spin of history here, but reading of papal documents.

I appreciate that the church no longer has a campaign of convert or die.

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 7/9/2012:

I am pleased that you are reading posts on this Catholic site and I hope and pray that you will one day take the important step of faith in Christ and the Church he established, thereby finding true happiness here and now and in eternity. God bless.

Father Echert
