Inspirations of the Holy Spirit/Actual Grace
Question from Don on 7/6/2009:

Father. In an answer to me two years ago, you wrote:

"An inspiration from the Holy Spirit may not always be known as such at the time of its happening. Another name for it is actual grace. Actual grace is essentially the Holy Spirit moving us to do good or avoid evil in specific situations. We are constantly "showered" with actual grace in the course of the day. Fr.Stephen F. Torraco on 07-12-2006"

Would you please elaborate upon being 'showered' with actual grace by the Holy Spirit? How manty times a day? Does it depend upon our being in Sanctifying Grace? Thank you. Don

Answer by Fr.Stephen F. Torraco on 7/8/2009:

The term "showered" is obviously a metaphorical term that I used to underline God's boundless mercy. Thus, a person in the state of mortal sin is "showered" with actual grace to move that person to repentance.
