Birth Control Pills For Health Reasons
Question from Daniel on 7/11/2009:

Can it be moral for a woman to take birth control pills for medical or health reasons other than artificial contraception? Many women, even sexually inactive women, seem to be taking birth control pills in order to control their periods and for other medical reasons.

Answer by Fr.Stephen F. Torraco on 7/14/2009:

It can be morally justifiable for a woman to take birth control pills for medeically indicated reasons. However, it may not be the best form of medical treatment. I suggest that you contact the Pope Paul VI Institute in Omaha for information about the most medically advanced and morally upright medical treatment. Telephone: 402-390-6600.
