Wasting food
Question from Loren on 9/15/2012:

Is it a sin to waste food? In regard to not eating all your food, because it may not have met your defining quality.

Answer by Catholic Answers on 9/20/2012:

Loren--

I don't know what you mean by "defining quality," so I cannot comment on that. In principle, it can be sinful to deliberately waste resources that can reasonably be put to some other useful purpose. That does not mean that you have sinned if you do not eat every bite of food on your plate, but it does mean that reasonable care should be taken to avoid having to throw away food others can use and benefit from.
