Sacrament of confession
Question from Rose on 7/23/2012:

When the priest absolves you of all your sins does that mean even the sins you have not mentioned in your confession are absolved too?

Answer by Catholic Answers on 7/25/2012:

Rose--

It depends on whether or not the sin is venial or mortal. Venial sins need not be confessed to be forgiven; mortal sins must be confessed. During confession, if a person deliberately chooses not to confess a sin he knows is mortal and must be confessed, the absolution is not valid and he has committed the further sin of sacrilege against the sacrament of confession.
