Liturgy readings on EWTN
Question from Joni on 8/2/2012:

I am wondering why the Mass readings on the EWTN web site are sometimes different from the readings listed on the USCCB website. For example, today is August 2 and the readings at the EWTN web site are from Sirach 24, Psalm 34, Galatians 4, and Luke 1. At the USCCB website, the readings for today are from Jeremiah 18, Psalm 146, and Matthew 13. My question is not at all a criticism or complaint, I merely seek understanding. Thank you and God bless you all. (I wouldn't be a Catholic today if it wasn't for EWTN!)

Joni--

EWTN is an apostolate founded by Mother Angelica, a Poor Clare, and served by the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word. My guess is that, in the liturgies celebrated at EWTN's shrine, the celebrants follow the Franciscan calendar. August 2 is a Franciscan feast day, the Feast of the Portiuncula.
