A disease-free chalice
Question from Donnie on 7/25/2013:

Can you show me proof that one cannot get germs from sharing from the eucharistic chalice?

Answer by Catholic Answers on 7/25/2013:

Donnie--

No. In fact, it is entirely possible that germs could be transmitted by such sharing -- although that is not usually a problem for otherwise healthy adults, who probably come into contact with more germs from grasping the doorknob in a public restroom. If you are worried about germs, then don't receive Communion from the chalice. A full Communion is made by receiving either the host or from the chalice. It is not necessary to receive both species.
