Question from Charles on 10/6/2009:

I seem to remember hearing stories of certain saints who subsisted only on the Eucharist, without eating any other food. If this is true, could you point me to such saints that did this? I find such devotion to the Eucharist truly amazing and would like to read more about their lives.

Answer by Catholic Answers on 10/6/2009:

Charles--

One such saint is St. Catherine of Siena. I would only caution such devotees of St. Catherine, and any other saints who did this, that the saints' ability to survive on the Eucharist alone was a special grace given to them by God. It is not something that anyone else should attempt on his own.
