could this be a statue of Mary?
Question from wondering on 10/2/2009:

Our parish is named for a male saint so I know this is not the saint for whom the church as named, but our parish use to have a statue of a saint dressed all in black like a nun. I assumed this was a statue of Mary. Do you know of any statue of Mary that was all in black like this? I believe the original community where this parish is was a community of Irish immigrants at the turn of the 20th century.

Answer by Matthew Bunson on 10/20/2009:

My apology, but I would need to see the statue in question in order to be able to provide a proper assessment.
