Burying of the Saint Jospeh Statue
Question from Sandy Green on 6/19/2014:

Is it appropriate to bury the Saint Joseph Statue when selling your home? Where did this practice come from? Isn't this superstition?

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 7/20/2014:

Dear Sandy,

The burying of St. Joseph is an old pious practice showing that Catholic have a dramatic sense of humor. They were not being superstitious. They were quite sure that St. Joseph himself up in heaven wouldn't mind.

Dr. Geraghty
