Theology of Harry Potter Class @ Catholic University?
Question from Angie on 11/2/2013:

In our local newspaper they ran a story about our local Catholic University having a class named the Theology of Harry Potter. It showed them dressed up in costume having beer on All Saint's Day eve (to do with this class). The Church gives us ALL SAINT'S DAY...not this! Where to begin? :I think a "CATHOLIC" University has TRUTH to teach and this ain't it...what must other Christians think of Catholics when they see this in the Sioux City Journal ? I feel sad and disappointed. Quote from paper: "Briar Cliff University theology of Harry Potter~ Briar Cliff University theology instructor Gil Ridenour, upper left, mixes a batch of butterbeer during a "Potterluck" food gathering Thursday as part of his class on the theology of Harry Potter.

Thoughts?

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 11/2/2013:

Dear Angie,

What can I say? Your comments are enough to save me the trouble of looking up web sites. We live in a world that seems to be getting weirder and weirder by the day.

Dr. Geraghty
