The Soul
Question from Don on 10/19/2009:

Dr. Geraghty. I am a bit confused over the word 'soul'. It seems to be used in two different ways: 1) that part of us that animates our bodies and is no lobger active when we die, and, 2) that supernatural part of us, created at conception, which is somehow transported to Heaven, Purgatoy or Hell when we die.

Would you please explain? Thank you. Don

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 11/1/2009:

Dear Don,

The soul is the spiritual part of us which informs the body and makes us a living person. It survives the death of the body. When it is in the state of having supernatural grace, it goes to heaven and is there for all eternity. When the soul is not in the state of grace, it goes to hell and is there for all eternity.

Dr. Geraghty
